Four letters. One big bold capital letter F.
What's the word I'm referring to?
FEAR
It has been plaguing me to write about for years, but I never have, for the same reason as the topic of this piece.
I was too afraid to.
I know what you're thinking... how can you be afraid to write about fear? I suppose it could be compared to having stage fright. You have this deep passion for an art / hobby / job etc. and yet you don't have the courage to step up and show the world what you have to offer, so you freeze.
Fear is like an infectious disease, filling your body with this sickening sensation and paralyzing you. It holds you back. Keeps you from what you love, stops you from growing and steals your purpose right from the grip of your thoughts.
The irony... how scary fear can be, right?
My point is, being fearful is the ultimate setback in any person's life, and in often cases we're in denial, just telling ourselves "I'll get it done... I will... just... not now." but the truth is; you won't. Because doubt is the offspring of fear. It's that soft whisper in your ear telling you, you're not good enough, you can't achieve anything. You're just another number on this planet - why should you go further then what's in front of you.
I'll tell you why.
Because if you are your biggest setback then YOU are also your greatest strength. And no one, not even yourself, should create a space for doubt and fear to grow inside of you. It does not matter what people think of you - it is what you think of yourself that's crucial in this world of judgement. So don't be on the list of people you hate because you were too afraid to get up and go out there.
Life is limited.
